Best Way to Explore Burgundy, France is On Two Wheels

The one of a kind scenery and the rich and interesting culture of Burgundy is reason enough to want to explore, but what better way then on two wheels where you can breathe in the fresh air, and take in your surroundings at a relaxed and leisurely pace with no one keeping the time for you.

While you are visiting the Burgundy region, roll through the town of Dijon, the university town, and ancient capital of the Dukes of Burgundy.  Allow yourself some time to explore the Musée des Beaux-Arts, one of France’s oldest museums and the gargoyle-studded 13th century church of Notre-Dame. You can also visit the Palace of the Dukes, many art museums, the archeology museum and much, much more.  At night you can explore some of the many restaurants, pubs, and college nightlife that this town offers.  When you have had your fill you can continue on your bicycle adventure to Beaune, France.

Beaune is known as the “Capital Of Burgundy Wines” as it hosts many large and small, facilities and cellars in the town. With some amazing and beautiful weather throughout most of the year, this region is a great place to get outside and enjoy the beauty that is Burgundy, France. Again, the most popular activity in Beaune is biking, which is how we suggest you explore the area, offering great bike routes and pre organized tours. However there are a few other great outdoor sports to explore in this area including golf and hiking, during the summer, and even skiing and winter sports during the colder months.

Next you can head to Dracy-le-Fort and tour the city and taste some appetizing wine.  You should stop by and visit the Dracy-le-Fort medieval castle as well for a little sight seeing. Great restaurants and wines will delight your taste buds during your visit as you indulge in some of the most delicious cuisines France has to offer. If you are feeling extra adventurous during your French bike tour, you can even take a glider tour over the beautiful Dracy-le-Fort or a 4X4 tour of the vineyards.

Finish off your tour at Tournus visiting the town rich with old buildings, alleyways, unique shops, and tasty restaurants and cafes. Tournus is a great location at the southern tip of Burgundy to round out your amazing vacation through the wine world of France. Soaking up some more classical and beautiful architecture, including the crypt, chancel, and nave of the abbey St-Philibert. From arts and crafts, to delicious chocolatiers, you will be sure to have an amazing time visiting the lovely town of Tournus.
