Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are a group of volcanic islands situated west of Ecuador, with the first recorded visit to the islands believed to be in 1535 when Dominican Friar Fray Tomas de Berlanga was blown off course while on his way to Peru. There are 19 main islands whose lands are each larger than 1Km, and are inhabited by the native iguanas that are known from the area. The iguanas became extinct on the islands but were reintroduced there from some that were bred in a breeding project through the Charles Darwin Research Station. Adventures to the island can be done via cruise ships that visit the area year around and go to specific islands to take in the natural wonder of the iguana populations, and unique flora and fauna of the area. Jumping onto one of the cruise ships will give you the opportunity to Cruiseabout the area and see some of these wonders for yourself.
